Are you familiar with the Mayan expression, “In Lak’ech”? It means “You are another me and I am another you”. So when you help someone, you are actually helping yourself.
One of the most caring souls who ever graced this planet was Audrey Hepburn, the glamorous movie actress and star of My Fair Lady and Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Onscreen, she dazzled, but it was her beautiful heart and philanthropic work offscreen that were her greatest legacy. “As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands,” she said. “One for helping yourself, the other for helping others.” I think it was the best line she ever spoke—and it wasn’t written by a screenwriter!
Lately, I’ve been assessing my own legacy and searching for ways to serve, to make a greater impact, to help uplift others, to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud, to pay it forward—all of those clichés which seemed silly in my misspent youth but now have great personal meaning. Whether it’s writing books, recording CDs, teaching writing or color therapy workshops, producing and hosting radio shows or planning year-round programs for kid filmmakers—everything I do is intended to inspire others.
And it isn’t enough. But I come bearing excuses.
Have you ever felt like you’re juggling so many plates in the air that you feel possessed, like someone turned on your electricity and you can’t stop dancing? Like me, you may be a businesswoman who wants to make a difference. You yearn to do more for the world but have neither the time nor funding to do so. You’re exhausted because you devote at least 70 hours a week toward your business. And perhaps (like me) there are times you could really use a group hug!
Who knew I would receive my my “hug” in the form of a tiny 100 x 72 pixels Facebook ad? Let me introduce you to Kristin Sweeting Morelli, a multi-millionaire entrepreneur who retired at the ripe old age of 30. Kristin is offering savvy businesswomen an opportunity to “lift others” by joining her “Impact Posse”.
Do you want to make a greater impact on the world?
Do you want to pay it forward?
Do you have an open mind?
Do you want to work fewer hours?
Do you want to have fun?
Do you want to join a group of female entrepreneurs whose goal is to not only make a profit, but to help other women, too?
My answers were a loud and resounding “Yes, PLEASE!”
I can hear the collective gasp and I know why. Many women who consider themselves “spiritual” would never, ever consider trying to make a profit. In fact, some may even feel guilty about charging for their services. I used to feel that way, too. But then I came to understand that I have value—my gifts should be shared, not hoarded.
If you were to win the lottery with a payback of hundreds of millions of dollars (after taxes), would you refuse it? Money is merely an energy exchange and its greatest value is that it may be used towards spreading loads of goodwill, no matter what the amount. And if you could make a profit and pay it forward at the same time, what’s so un-spiritual about that?
It’s been said before, but worth saying again: Life doesn’t have to be a struggle. Unfortunately, our fears hold us back from truly ascending—fear of failure, fear of success. Fortunately, we can conquer these fears by asking for help and observing the signs when they’re offered.
If your business has taken a wrong turn, you have a choice to either stop and turn around or just roll up your sleeves and get rid of the obstacles. I’ve listened to my heart and I know that Impact Posse is the most direct route for me to reach my ultimate destination: a friendly place where community and service is encouraged.
I’ve lost count of how many business and marketing teleseminars I have attended over the years, but I can tell you that Impact Posse is the first one that truly spoke to my heart. As someone who’s been an entrepreneur most of her adult life, I admire Kristin’s joyful spirit and philanthropic vision. Not only did she introduce me to a new way of having more fun (and why she calls “leverage” a girl’s best friend), but she also convinced me that “1 + 1 = 3.”
For me, seeing Kristin’s Facebook ad was Divine timing and the possebilities seem endless. But what I like most about her revolutionary program is that it promotes Unity and Connection. Impact Posse is not about Kristin Sweeting Morelli or ME or even about YOU. It’s about WE. Together WE can uplift each other and make a world of difference. In Lak’ech.
Do you want to make a real impact? Are you committed to being of service? Do you believe in yourself and the power of positive thinking? Do you have the passion and intention to succeed?
